Guiding Questions

  • Which developmental markers will be most important for me to consider for my chosen age group?

  • What impact does equity have on student success in school?

  • How have each of these mindsets shown up in your personal and professional life prior to entering the field of education?

  • What impact do strong relationships have on student success in school?

What to Bring:

  • First, if you have not completed your enrollment application, please bring any missing application items (e.g., undergraduate transcripts) to give to the enrollment team when you arrive. In order to receive access to the online coursework platform (Canvas), you will need to complete and submit an application.
  • Pen, notebook, and your personal calendar or organization tool. We will review the schedule for our two weeks and some due dates so you might want to have your calendars ready
  • Laptop computer with charger, if you have one. We will have a small computer lab available for student use. (See technology requirements below)
  • Casual dress. Once in front of students, professional dress is the way to go, but while you are here, feel free to dress comfortably
  • Light sweater or jacket. Though it is summer, it can be chilly in our air-conditioned space
  • Bring your lunch or money to buy lunch in the area. We’ll give you 45 minutes each day for lunch, which is plenty of time if you’re ready to roll. There are many food options in the area
  • Water bottle. General Seminary does not have water fountains and we want to ensure you are hydrated.

Technology Requirements:

As you prepare for Relay Orientation and coursework, check to ensure that your computer complies with Relay’s technology requirements. As a large percentage of Relay’s program takes place online, you will not be able to complete coursework without a computer that meets the below requirements. If you have any questions regarding Relay’s technology requirements, please email the Technology team at email tech@relay.edu

  • Windows 7 (or later), or Mac OS 10.12 (or later)
  • Screen resolution of 1024x768 (or higher)
  • 1GB of RAM and a 2GHz Processor (or higher)
  • Microsoft Office (Desktop version, not Web)
  • Access to a high-speed internet connection for video uploads

Note that iPads, Chromebooks, and other tablets are not compatible with our program at this time.

NYCTF Skills Building Session

Location: General Seminary (440 W 21st St, New York, NY 10011)
Dates: Tuesday, June 19 - Friday, June 29 (No session on Thursday, June 28th)
Time: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Schedule: Please contact NYC Teaching Fellows directly for information about this programming.

DASA Workshop for Teacher Certification

The DASA (Dignity for All Students) workshop is required for teacher certification. Relay’s workshop is 3 hours of online work and 3 hours of in-person work (many other providers are 6 hours of in-person work). We highly recommend taking DASA at Relay as it is much cheaper than other options.

You can register HERE . Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with information about how to complete the online work. Registration for DASA closes June 25th at 9:30 AM; it has sold out every year we have offered it.
